Overwhelmed by LOVE and PINK!

What a fantastic day, I must say!!!!!! We found out today that our sweet baby is indeed a girl and already a spoiled one at that! I really have no time to be writing considering the BIG Birthday party is tomorrow, but I feel the need to share our day before the chaos sets in!

So yesterday was 16 weeks, which is the earliest that they will do an ultrasound to determine the definite sex, so of course being the person I am WE HAD TO DO IT TODAY! I was very anxious because I had this feeling it was a boy and my mom told me last weekend that I looked like it was a boy, but every night this week I have had dreams of a girl. So I was very unsure of what today would hold and believe me when I say if it was a boy he would have been as loved as this baby girl! The day was planned to a tee because you know me...there must be a schedule in place for everything! 9:00 am baby time, take Bryson to school, pick up a few party things, have Bryson a party at school, and then Bryson had a well check-up scheduled for 1:15 and then I of course needed to come home and prepare for the party. Well I must say that once I found out it was a GIRL my schedule went out the WINDOW!

She told us that she was definitely a girl and that she was very proud to show it, which already has Brooks concerned. Bryson seemed a little bummed that it wasn't the brother he was hoping for and even mentioned he can't teach a girl to race cars :( But he quickly got over it....I think. We got the new baby girl a little bear from Bryson and we recorded her heartbeat in it, so he was proud of that...which brings me to the next highlight...she would NOT sit still long enough to have her heartbeat recorded, the lady mentioned that she is "a runner" which made me happy b/c everyday when I run I have been telling myself that I am teaching her how to run and ITS WORKING!!!! :) Of course our sweet thing is very skinny at this stage, but she is already BEAUTIFUL to us!

So that brings me till about 9:45 am....we took Bryson to school, picked up a few party things, had a nice lunch and ran back to Bryson's school for his party. He and Miss Sadie shared a party, since they share a birthday week and I got the pleasure to read to preschoolers, which is a little out of my element. Once we were finished we thought we were going to Bryson's appointment, but I had a message that they needed to reschedule. So the boys went to play with slot cars and I got to go SHOPPING for PINK, which I learned is going to be VERY dangerous!

Here I am still on cloud 9, when I should be doing something, so I better go and prepare for a RACING party! Thank you to EVERYONE that has been so positive and for all of the prayers through this journey that we have traveled the past 8 months. I knew, then, that it would be ok and today is the day that it was confirmed! We love you ALL and appreciate ALL that you have done for us in our lives and for ALL of the continued prayers until this sweet girl is safe and healthy in our arms!!!!!!! LOVE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU!!!!!!!!! The Derting's Brooks, Alysha, Bryson and Baby Girl BRD :)

Love Week

As most know Valentine week is not about roses and chocolates at the Derting's its about a boy who decided to enter the world a WHOLE month early to SURPRISE his parents for Valentine's. This is one of the most exciting weeks of the year for me, not because I have a hot date tomorrow night, but because I have a boy who will be 5 and a birthday party to pull off.

So we started the week off as we always do by spending the weekend at the beach with Gays, shopping for party food, party outfits and by eating the best Japanese food in SC! Bryson ALWAYS picks Japanese for his birthday dinner, so we will have it again Tuesday night except this time it will be Kobes with Paw-Paw.

Tomorrow is LOVE day as many of you are aware and I have to go to a workshop. I am a little sad to not be at school to celebrate V Day with my kids, but I hope to make it to Bryson's Valentine's party at his school. Then I think I shall go to the Y tomorrow afternoon and work off some of the food I inhaled this weekend and maybe it will not be crowded because I am sure most of the world has dinner plans. No dinner outing for us tomorrow, girls soccer season starts for Brooks, so we will be home preparing for a party!

Tuesday is the BIG day that my baby will turn *5*...this will be a very bitter sweet day for me as I have reminisced all weekend everything I did 5 years ago this weekend. We were again at the beach and I had NO CLUE that within a couple of days Bryson would make his appearance without his nursery ready, no clothes to fit b/c he was so small nor did I imagine that he would attend his own baby showers that I thought had been planned accordingly weeks before his due date, obviously I was wrong. I can not believe that he will be 5 and going to school next year, it really scares me that the next time I turn around he will be driving, going to college, getting married and having a 5 year old of his own. SO ANYWAYS...we shall begin the day with his favorite meal, breakfast probably at McDonalds, and end the day with his favorite restaurant.

By Wednesday and Thursday I may be a little crazier than normal trying to make sure I have everything needed for a Racing Party!!! I should also mention the other special significance that this week has for us...Brooks had his hip surgery on Feb. 17th, 6 years ago and we had no idea going in that day what it meant, but thankfully that sad, scary day was replaced with a special event a year later when we brought Bryson home from the hospital.

By the end of the week we will have a new memory to add to this special week when  Friday morning we find out if this growing baby is a BOY or a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very anxious to see the little one and determine what we can finally call it without guessing. :) :) :) Bryson is going with us and then he is having his bday party at school with Miss Sadie since they share this birthday week together.

Finally this EXCITING week will end on Saturday with a RACING party including a slot car track, funnel cakes, racetrack food, trophies for the kids and ALL the cake you can eat!

So I am anxious for this week to get started, so we can celebrate the many blessings that we have in our lives. I hope that you have something special planned for Valentine's Day!!!!! Enjoy LOVE week with the ones you LOVE the most :) Happy V Day and LOVE from yours truly, Alysha

The Week's Review....

Another week has come and leaving quickly! The weekend was beautiful and we spent lots of time in the sunshine and warm air playing with the dogs and doing some much needed yard clean up from the bitter winter, that I hope is gone! It seems like it has been a very busy week with something needing attention everyday.....

We did work in a swim Monday night and the water felt great...however showering and getting dressed in the FREEZING locker room, NOT SO GREAT.

Tuesday we got to see the baby AGAIN :) "It" (for now) was moving and waving happily at us! Everything looked good and fingers crossed and prayers requested my blood work is the same way. We have decided (pretty much I decided) that we will be going to Watch Me Grow on Friday, the 18th to find out what the baby is...mostly because I can't wait much longer nor do I want the child to have a complex if its a girl because Brooks and Bryson only call it a he! Very excited to see what our family will be completed with...although I want a girl, if its a boy then that means that I get to have another mommy's boy and that will be just fine too. Its becoming obvious in my small size shirts that I am in need of a bigger size SOON! BUT thankfully I have only gained 3 pounds and I couldn't be more happier with that.

Wednesday was just Wednesday nothing big or exciting other than cleaning out the basement.

Today work went well and I did a couple of  miles on the treadmill at the Y.

I am looking forward to the weekend and hopefully sleeping in just a little bit...I haven't rested well the past few nights and I am hoping that I can sleep peacefully soon and not feel so drained by 10am. Hope you have had a fun week and plan on having a good weekend! Be safe and ENJOY the Super Bowl! Love you, Alysha
